In The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 15, 2023, things get dicey on the operating table, but doctors Finnegan and Forrester seemingly have it all under control.

In addition, the family worries about Eric while at Forrester Creations, RJ and Luna share a major breakthrough with their relationship. As for Eric, his health takes another turn. Now, let’s take a deeper dive into what happened.
Finn and Bridget Can’t Stop Eric’s Numbers from Plummeting
On the operating table, the intensity of Eric’s health failing skyrocketed while the Forrester patriarch continued to hemorrhage. Bridget (Ashley Jones) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) worked to save Eric (John McCook), but they couldn’t stop the bleeding. The operating team noticed that Eric was both tachycardic and hypoxic — things didn’t look good. Bridget fought to not lose her father.
Meanwhile, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) continued to question his choices (if Eric survives, will he be questioning Ridge’s choices, too?). Thorne (Winsor Harmon) knows that he and Donna (Jennifer Gareis) would never have hesitated to opt for the experimental treatment. He didn’t understand why Ridge did. His brother countered, saying he only did what he thought Eric would do for himself. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) reiterated how her father did the right thing. She has all the faith in her husband and knows that Eric will come through. Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) added how Bridget was also there helping Finn. There was nothing else they could do right now.
Later, Ridge stopped a nurse, who reported there was some unexpected bleeding, which had everybody instantly worried. In fact, even knowing doctors Finnegan and Forrester were doing all they could in the operating room, Ridge felt validated. After all, he never wanted Eric to struggle on the operating table.
Luna Surprises RJ with Gift and Three More Words
Back at Forrester Creations, Luna (Lisa Yamada) hid a gift behind her back. She wanted to do something nice for RJ (Joshua Hoffman). She wanted him to have something, a special memory. It was a photo of Eric and RJ working as a team. She framed a photo she had taken right before the fashion challenge. She wanted to capture the moment because RJ and Eric were so in sync. She didn’t realize at the time how special the moment was. RJ was in awe over Luna always knowing exactly what he needed.
Luna said her favorite part of this whole Forrester internship experience was seeing RJ rise to the challenge. RJ feels he’s found his calling, his inner designer, if you will. Originally, he didn’t feel like he belonged at FC, but then he met her, and everything has clicked since then.

The conversation between Luna and RJ grew deeper. She said when she looks at RJ, she wants to be kissing him and wants him to hold her. That she’d always stayed focused on school. She thought if she waited for the right guy…but she thinks he’s the right one. But she also doesn’t want to jeopardize her internship. In turn, RJ said Luna’s teaching him how to love someone in a way he hasn’t before. He didn’t want to lose it, and neither did Luna. In fact, she told him she loved him, and they kissed.
Operation Update
All of a sudden, Eric’s health took a turn for the better. Bridget and Finn quickly got ready to close him up so they could update everybody. Bridget said this would never have happened without him.
Finn reminded Bridget they can’t make any promises to the family. He’d rather be cautious and didn’t want to undersell how difficult Eric’s recovery would be. When they shared the news with the family, they told them that Eric had made it through the surgery, and Bridget was able to stop the bleeding. Now, they all had to wait. They should just send Eric love and light and see if the operation — Finn’s experimental treatment — was a success.
Suddenly, Eric was in bed in a hospital room, and he flashed back to his family, his grand finale, his son, Ridge. There was a bright light. Then he saw Stephanie (Susan Flannery)! She told him everything was going to be fine. Everyone’s been praying for him. Scenes of Eric and Stephanie dancing flash through. Finally, Stephanie said Eric’s home.
