Naomi Matsuda plays the strait-laced Li on The Bold and the Beautiful. Onscreen, Li is serious business, but offscreen, Matsuda loves to have fun. On one particular day, the show’s cast and crew had the actress laughing during rehearsal.
In Stitches
Matsuda had to scrub in when Li and Bridget (Ashley Jones) had to perform life-saving surgery on Luna (Lisa Yamada). It’s a tense storyline and scenes for her character. However, when it came time to rehearse and film the operating room scenes, they didn’t go as Matsuda expected.

On Instagram, the actress posted several videos of the cast and crew having fun on set. In one video, Matsuda receives directions on how to do CPR while everyone sings “Stayin’ Alive.” The moment had the actress laughing, but the ending sent her over the edge. In the next scene, where Li grabs the defibrillator, director Cynthia Popp instructs Matsuda to say, “Clear…will power!”
“Are you serious?” Matsuda asks as she and her co-stars burst into laughter.
Matsuda’s behind-the-scenes fun continued in another video where she and Ashley Jones continued their CPR lessons. In this clip, the women are giggling and saying “Come on, Luna” as Yamada looks on in shock.
While it was fun offscreen, it was a sad moment onscreen. Luna’s rampage resulted in her, Liam (Scott Clifton), and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) getting shot. Sheila and Liam survive, but sadly, Luna doesn’t make it.
It’s going to be a difficult time for the Nozawa and Finnegan household as they deal with their grief. Although Luna was a villain, some people, Li included believed she could’ve been redeemed. The fallout from Luna’s death is going to create much drama moving forward, especially for Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood).
But the big question is, is Luna really dead?
