Jacob Young rejoined The Bold and the Beautiful back in 2011, when All My Children came to a end. Now, Young has had a status change at the CBS soap.
According to published reports, Young has is no longer on contract with B&B.
Young confirmed the change in contract status in an interview, noting that this is the first time in his lengthy soap career he’s worked in soaps on a recurring basis.
This doesn’t mean Young won’t be busy. The actor’s been working on his music career. Earlier this year, he released a single titled Better Than A Love Song, available on iTunes.
The actor first joined B&B in late 1997 just in time for one of Ridge (then Ronn Moss; now Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) many weddings.
Rick moved to the frontburner in a storyline in which he lost his virginity to his babysitter Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz). His rival and pal was C.J. Garrison (Mick Cain).
In a surprise move, Young exited the B&B in 1999, but he wasn’t gone from soaps for very long. Before the end of the year, he’d been scooped up by General Hospital to play Lucky. In 2003, he moved to New York where he joined the cast of AMC as JR Chandler.
In 2011, Young returned to B&B where Rick was paired with Maya (Karla Mosley). Stunned to discover that Maya was born a man, Myron, Rick later realized he was truly in love with Maya.
The couple eventually wed, had a baby by surrogate, but has been lingering on the back-burner as of late. Still, Young has said that he’s continuing to work on B&B so viewers haven’t seen the last of Rick!
The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listing for airtimes.
