Following a published report that Jacob Young has switched to non-contract status on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), the actor has shared his feelings–and it may surprise you.
Young tweeted confirming his new status with B&B and his plans for the future, which include doing a movie for Lifetime. He calls the change in his status with the half-hour soap a “blessing” as it will afford him time to pursue outside projects.
He also shared a snap on Instagram telling us he is off to shoot this new film in Mexico today.
B&B doesn’t confirm contract statuses among its cast members but viewers can likely expect to see the actor continue in the role. We’d expect to see Young play more prominently if and when B&B tells a story of a corporate power struggle within Forrester Creations.
Young first joined the soap in late 1998 when Rick attended the wedding of Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (then Ronn Moss; now Thorsten Kaye), quickly becoming a fan favorite and teen heartthrob.
The actor quit the show in 1999, but was back on soaps in a short amount of time, first as Lucky on General Hospital and then as JR on All My Children.
After that soap ended in 2011, Young rejoined B&B as Rick, a role that had been played by both Emmy-winner Justin Torkildsen and Kyle Lowder (ex-Brady, Days of Our Lives) during Young’s time away from the show.
The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
