Thomas’ return on The Bold and the Beautiful was a welcome sight for all but Brooke on Tuesday, September 2’s episode. Fresh from Paris, he dropped by Taylor’s office to surprise her with a hug. And he really took Ridge off guard when he caught his father embracing Brooke in the CEO’s office.
He’s newly inserted into his parents’ romantic drama, but you’d think viewers would be clued into what’s going on in Thomas’ life. However, it looks like the writers have left us on the hook for now. Hopefully not for long.
No One Mentions Paris
While both Taylor (Rebecca Budig) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) asked after their grandson, Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri), he didn’t make the trip to LA with Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). School hasn’t started for the Forrester heir yet so he’s spending the last rays of summer sun with friends in the South of France.
Noticeably absent from any discussion was Paris (Diamond White). The last B&B viewers heard of her, she’d been on the phone with Grace (Cassandra Creech), seemingly unaware of her mother’s scheming. It’s been impossible not to speculate what Thomas’ return could mean for the Buckinghams, but that’s not the storyline B&B is leading with for him.
Thomas’ One Track Mind
Thomas is dead-set on seeing his parents finally marry again. His return episode focused entirely on him pointedly getting to the bottom of Ridge’s intentions. There was so much talk of engagements and marriage that it was surprising his own pending nuptials weren’t a topic of discussion.
Neither of his parents deflected by asking about when he’ll be tying the knot despite Thomas’s last plot being his engagement to Paris. Presumably, the two haven’t broken up. But the lack of a mention will raise eyebrows if it continues to happen on B&B. There’s no real way to sweep it under the rug, considering Grace’s storyline and Hope’s engagement.
Where Thomas left off on the soap necessitates some kind of circle back to his romance with Paris. The build for it was off-screen, but its appearance drove the nail into Thope’s coffin. Whether or not the two ever reunite, a conversation should be had about the paths their lives have taken since Hope rejected Thomas’ proposal.
Not talking about Paris at all would be a glaring omission.
