A Forrester-Spencer rivalry is on deck for The Bold and the Beautiful fans in early 2026, but it won’t be Ridge and Bill duking it out over bad blood. No, it’s their namesakes’ turn to work out past grievances with sharp words and (potentially) dastardly actions.
In an interview with TV Insider, B&B head writer and EP Bradley Bell not only confirmed RJ Forrester is coming back (now played by Brayan Nicoletti), he let it be known the soap is all in when it comes to cultivating a rivalry between him and Will Spencer.
This is welcome news considering a tense dynamic between the two was teased when Joshua Hoffman stepped into the role, but the potential for a rivalry wasn’t realized…until now.
Key Takeaways
- Why a Forrester-Spencer rivalry for the next generation makes sense for B&B
- The potential storylines that could come from this development
RJ and Will Don’t See Eye-to-Eye on B&B
Despite being once stepbrothers, and RJ having been gifted a Spencer necklace by Bill (Don Diamont), Ridge Junior and Will (Crew Morrow) aren’t friendly. They may be family by blood since they’re cousins, but that’s about all they have in common.
B&B viewers got a glimpse of their dynamic when Hoffman and Morrow shared a scene back in 2024. The cocky attitude Will adopted then isn’t as present now on the soap, but it’s set to come roaring back.
When Will first arrived on the scene and was hired at Forrester Creations, it was treated as a joke between him and his father. He’d play around at the fashion house while chasing girls, but the plan was always for him to eventually make his way over to Spencer Publications.
Katie (Heather Tom) may see her son as having a career at FC now that he’s a full-time employee, but his time there may be coming to an end because of RJ, though it won’t be because they want the same job.
Though RJ is a designer and Will isn’t, the Logan storyline has the Forresters and Spencers beginning to close ranks. While no one has said anything to Will about Katie starting a fashion brand, he may find being a Spencer in the Forrester’s world a bit trying now. Especially when there’s a Forrester heir his age with whom he doesn’t get along.
With last names being thrown around and the Forresters asserting what’s theirs, it seems like it won’t be long before love isn’t enough to keep Will supporting a fashion house that won’t further his own name like a Spencer subsidiary would.
Rivals in Business and Love
Though it’s unlikely that RJ will get in the middle of Will’s relationship with Electra (Laneya Grace) since they’re cousins, that doesn’t mean the two won’t butt heads over romance. Sydney Bullock is now on contract as Dylan, so she’ll be sticking around for a while. That leaves Dylan available to fall in love. With her living in Will’s guest apartment, there’s also ample opportunity for the cousins to clash if Will is protective of her.
B&B seems to be leaning into Electra’s jealousy streak, which would pull all four young adults into a tangled mess with misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and potentially betrayal. Add that on top of RJ and Will’s families fighting over the newly minted Logan, and you have a rivalry with all the markers of fueling the story for months to come.
We’ve seen Ridge and Bill feud many times over the years, and now it’s time for their sons to be passed the torch.
