On Monday, September 22’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Luna’s two grandmothers sipped wine and sat down to discuss the facts of their new reality. Li made her feelings about her granddaughter’s behavior very clear. Finding out that she not only exposed the fact that she’s alive but also targeted Will Spencer sent her over the edge.
Li’s last interaction with Luna involved a chokehold that she says the young woman deserved. But coming off of her anger and talking to Sheila may have Li looking at this situation differently. Sheila seems to be framing it as a clash between them and the Spencers that hinges on Luna’s ability to stay out of jail.
Sheila’s Perspective
Li (Naomi Matsuda) and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) don’t see eye-to-eye on Luna’s (Lisa Yamada) actions. But they’re both very protective of family. While Li feels betrayed and says she’s washed her hands of Luna, Sheila believes that’s the anger talking. Luna is going to need both of them in order to navigate the mess she’s gotten herself into. But Sheila also thinks what Luna did was cunning.
Rather than relying on a lawyer to sort things out for her, Luna took advantage of the circumstances in front of her. In Sheila’s twisted survivor’s logic, she did what she had to in order to secure a get out of jail free card. Being pregnant with a Spencer child, in her mind, is certain to achieve that. Li’s disgust doesn’t change the position Luna has put herself in. One that could produce a better outcome than they’ve been able to come up with so far.
It has the added bonus for Sheila of showing Bill (Don Diamont) that he can be outfoxed. Not only did Luna outmaneuver him, she tied herself closer to his family in a way he has no real control over preventing.
A Change Of Heart For Li?
Though Li was outraged, she listened to Sheila’s framing of events. The doctor has never cared what anyone has to say about what she does to protect her family. The idea that the Spencers are going to send Luna back to jail because they don’t want her ruining Will’s life isn’t likely to sit well with her.
Li has a high standard for how she expects her family to act. But she’s not one to let somebody else dictate how they should be treated. Formidable and sharp-tongued, if Li’s back on Luna’s side, the Spencers are going to have a hard time doing what they want with Luna.
Through her grandmothers, Luna has a support system that won’t bow to Bill’s whims. They’ll fight back if he tries to force her into aborting Will’s (Crew Morrow) baby.
