Luna took a pregnancy test on The Bold and the Beautiful for the second time in less than two years. Last May, she was fretting over the possibility of not only having a baby but also not knowing who the father could be. Fast-forward to Wednesday, September 3’s episode, and now she’s hoping she was a bit too early taking the test because it was negative. She’s giving us whiplash.
The storylines have two things in common. First, Luna is in the middle of a blurred-consent plot yet again. Second, the circumstances surrounding her potential pregnancy are disturbing. Her scare in 2024 came on the heels of a drug-fueled night of intimacy with Zende. However, the story was rewritten when Luna was made a villain. Originally, Zende thought Luna knew it was him, and she thought she was sleeping with her boyfriend, RJ. This time, Luna’s hopeful that her assault of Will results in a pregnancy.
The retread of a prospective baby storyline for Luna does beg the question of whether the soap is looking to have two young parents on the show, regardless of how it happens.
A Spencer Baby No Matter The Cost
Luna (Lisa Yamada) has blazed through nearly every major soap trope in her short existence on B&B. She’s gone from the new intern who catches the eye of a Forrester heir to a murderess to being the product of a taboo relationship with a prominent doctor and his aunt. Yamada will celebrate her two years as the polarizing character on September 13. And now it seems the writers have put Luna on the path to bringing a new legacy baby into this universe.
In his anger over her double homicide and attempted murder of Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), Bill (Don Diamont) had told Luna that she would never be a Spencer. However, that declaration hasn’t kept her from pining after his son, Will (Crew Morrow). Before she was shot by Liam (Scott Clifton), she’d been working to seduce Will away from his girlfriend, Electra (Laneya Grace). Her attempts didn’t land, but she’s on to a new plan, one that will have major repercussions for the Spencers if she succeeds.
Though she’s been declared dead, Luna found a way to get what she wanted from Will. She plied him with alcohol while wearing a disguise and then snuck into the room where he was sleeping it off so she could take advantage of the situation. Like Luna did with Zende (Delon de Metz), Will thought he was spending the night with his significant other. But unlike Zende, Luna wasn’t under the impression Will knew it was her. She counted on him thinking she was Electra.
Luna told her grandmother, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), that everything was happenstance. The opening with the alcohol fell in her lap, as did Electra leaving the party without Will and Deacon deciding to put him in an empty apartment instead of an Uber bound for home. It all created the perfect storm for her to baby-trap him.
B&B Flirts With A Young Parents Storyline
Luna isn’t pregnant, but B&B left the door open for the possibility of that changing. As she bides her time, waiting on her grandmother Li (Naomi Matsuda) to sort things out with a lawyer, Luna hopes she’s pregnant.
She’s an impulsive character, so her patience will likely wear thin if too much time passes. But the secret of that night will come out. Co-head writer Michael Minnis’ fall preview detailed how this will impact the Spencers and Will/Electra’s relationship:
That’s going to get complicated. What Luna did was pretty awful. We are not condoning it in the least. It’s going to help unite the Spencer family. Bill and Katie are going to come together to support their son and maybe through this, they’ll find what they shared in the past and that connection as a couple. It’s going to have other consequences and of course, it’s going to put a strain on Will and Electra and have ramifications on their relationship. Will they be able to overcome it? And will Luna finally pay the consequences for what she’s done?
But will they “unite” over a potential bundle of joy? It’s unclear right now. What is clear is that young parenthood is a recurring theme that B&B continues to highlight. Finn (Tanner Novlan) wasn’t aware that Luna was his daughter, but he was 18 when she was born. Luna is in her early 20s. How far will the show go with this storyline?
