The Bold and the Beautiful’s Deacon Sharpe is known for being a career soap criminal. He’s always been shady, underhanded, and devious. From Genoa City to Los Angeles, he’s racked up serious charges including stealing evidence, obstructing justice, kidnapping, and attempted murder.

Deacon Sharpe: A Slice of Redemption

Let’s face it, Deacon’s (Sean Kanan) is not beyond drugging, blackmailing, assaulting, or embezzling money either. Sure, he hasn’t been the most stand-up individual, but ever since he reentered his daughter Hope’s (Annika Noelle) life in 2021, he’s been doing the work to clean up his act. Is all that progress about to go out the window?

Not every soap character gets the chance to make up for all his or her past mistakes on camera. We’re usually told they’ve been doing the work and it’s up to us to accept their redemption or not. Deacon, on the other hand, has taken all these steps right before his very eyes.

Bold and the Beautiful: Deacon’s The Man

Barring a drama-filled kiss with a married Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), Deacon is one of the lucky ones. We’ve seen him having the conversations he needs to have with Hope and his baby mama. He’s suitably apologetic about his absence from their lives, plus he served prison time. Then he took a job at Il Giardino, paid his dues, and moved into a tiny apartment. Eventually, he came up with a way to buy the restaurant and put in the effort to make it a success. How many times has he let his family taste-test a new pizza recipe? Yes, the ex-con’s a legitimate business owner.

At the end of the day, he keeps showing Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Hope he’s worthy of letting him back into their lives. Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) stopped having the urge to beat him to a pulp — that’s huge. He even worked with Bill (Don Diamont) and Ridge on trapping Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) and sending her back to prison. Hope often stops by Il Giardino to share a meal and chat with her dad about her mess of a life. Ultimately, his growth and evolution can’t be denied.

B&B Redemption Grade: A-

Threatening Deacon’s well-executed redemption arc is that nine-toed evil ex-nurse Sheila Carter. He harbored the fugitive. Now he’s full-blown in love with her and he no longer cares who knows it. Forget about keeping their relationship a dirty little secret.

They’ve come clean and revealed (almost) all to Hope and Finn (Tanner Novlan) and they’ve confronted Brooke and Ridge. Pretty much all of Los Angeles knows now. However, the big shocker nobody but Sheila knows yet: Deacon and Sheila are engaged. And, he used his connections with the judge to set his fiancée free. We cringe to think about those reveals.

Had Deacon turned his back on Sheila and let her languish in prison, his redemption report card would be an A+. We’re giving him a shaky A- with an option to lower his grade depending on how this Sheila romance continues. For now, it’s not looking good for Deacon Sharpe.
