If this happens, it has to be done right.

On Thursday, October 2’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Carter called himself a loser in love. He was being self-deprecating in the aftermath of his broken engagement with Hope, but he wasn’t wrong. The Forrester COO keeps striking out in his romances. But with his hand a mere inch away from Daphne’s, he may be closer to finding the love he’s been searching for than he knows.

Carter and Daphne have an attraction to one another that’s palpable. They also seem to have a connection that could go the distance if the B&B writers see fit to finally give Carter a love story for the ages.

A Romance Novel Kind Of Love

At its bare bones, the story around Daphne (Murielle Hilaire) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) isn’t too far from what book lovers would find in a Harlequin romance. He’s a wealthy, successful LA lawyer who serves as an executive at a fashion house, and he recently broke his own heart by letting the woman he loves go so she could be with the father of her child. Daphne’s a world-famous perfumer from Paris who was brought in by the company’s former Co-CEO to seduce Forrester out from under him. But then, she caught feelings, and it upended all her plans.

Thursday’s episode saw Daphne singing at an open mic night at an Italian restaurant, hoping Carter would make an appearance. And, of course, Carter walked in just as she was crooning softly for the audience. It was deeply romantic and the perfect set-up for these two to start falling in love.

But it’d be understandable if viewers have grown weary of Carter’s attempts at finding a life partner. He has had a revolving door of women supposedly perfect for him over the years. However, Daphne could actually be the person he needs.

A Love That Lasts

Carter falls in love easily and fast. It doesn’t take long for him to start spouting the same sweet nothings and saccharine platitudes B&B viewers have grown accustomed to from him. But he’s rarely someone’s first choice. His list of lady loves includes Maya Avant (Karla Mosley, now on Beyond the Gates), Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes), Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer), Paris Buckingham (Diamond White), Katie Logan (Heather Tom), and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle). But those relationships weren’t built to be lasting romances.

The COO hasn’t been afforded the same opportunity to have the kind of bond that lasts a lifetime like his counterparts at Forrester. But with Daphne, he may get that chance. She’s unlike anyone else on the show. Daphne is blunt to a fault but honest about her feelings. She sees no reason to couch her language or soften it, no matter who she’s speaking to. Carter isn’t able to hide from her, and she pushes him to be clear about what he wants and how he feels.

They’re of equal yolk and could be a power couple with their knowledge of business and the fashion industry. Not to mention, they’d make a beautiful pair. However, what’s missing from their connection is what Carter inspires in Daphne – how he helps her be her best self.

If the B&B writers do put Carter and Daphne together, hopefully, they will balance their relationship. That Carter pours into Daphne as much as she pours into him. And that viewers can see how they complement one another in all aspects of their lives.
