A Critic’s Review Of The Bold and the Beautiful: Applause & Lip Service

The author’s opinions on B&B are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of B&B’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: The Critic’s POV

First and foremost, the Bold and the Beautiful production team is deserving of a round of applause and commendation for the efforts they exhausted.

I’ll admit to getting quite the chuckle out of Marie Osmond playing so against type, and I didn’t hate Charlie (Dick Christie) and Esther’s (Kate Linder) little flirtation near as much as I thought I would — though I’m still peeved that the endearing Charlie/Pam coupling was spoiled in order to facilitate the cross-soap dalliance.

All that said, as a whole, this latest fashion showcase failed to suitably impress. Granted the days of glorious spectacle are well and truly behind us, but even the usual pomp and circumstance afforded a fashion preview was absent and the proceedings suffered for it. The lack of a raised stage, mood lighting, and the absence of the rapid flashes from the shutterbug’s camera made for a ho-hum procession.

Further B&B Musings

* Given how anxiously I anticipated Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) return to the canvas, I have to say I’ve been so far underwhelmed — her shoving Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) aside.

What do you think? Post a comment!

Also, was it really in Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) best interest to remind everyone of his recent failings as a parent with that little suggestion they all go suffering together later in the day?

* With all the incessant nattering about Ridge having to be told/deserving to know about Eric’s diagnosis because he’s his son, how about someone giving lip service to his other children and grandchildren? What do they deserve?

And here’s hoping that someone thinks to take Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) aside and fills him in on goings-on before he offers condolences to Eric on his loss.
