The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) will be honored this Sunday at the Daytime Emmys in honor of the show turning 30 this year.
Soap Hub also wants to honor the half hour sudser, so we reached out to past cast members to ask what memories they have of their time on the show.
Read on for the recollections of Jeff Tracta (ex-Thorne), Maeve Quinlan (ex-Megan), and Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon).
Jeff Tracta (ex-Thorne)
“On the day [B&B creator] Bill Bell hired me I boldly asked him if I could sing on his show. His reply was that Thorne had just shot Ridge ‘the hell in the head’ (Editor’s note: “the hell in the head” was an actual line in an episode!), suffered from amnesia, and was addicted to sleeping pills.
“In short, Thorne had nothing to sing about. A year later, I made my plea again and, as you know, Thorne and Macy (Bobbie Eakes) brought music to the show and live music to many countries where B&B is popular.
“Then, in my 7th year on the show, Tommy Tune offered me the role of Danny Zuko in Grease on Broadway. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Brad [Bell, executive producer/head writer] wrote a storyline that allowed me to live another dream.
“I obviously knew my calling was to be a live performer. B&B opened doors for me and helped me create a career I love where I make people happy.”
Maeve Quinlan (ex-Megan)
“My favorite scene is actually a scene where I had in fact zero lines and is the one fans ask me about the most — it’s when Megan changed Brooke and Deacon’s dirty sheets from the display bed in Brooke’s office from her bedroom line. That truly gets the most chatter!
“It summarized Megan for a lot of reasons — she covered for Brooke 24/7 and her loyalty had no boundaries. Megan was loyal up until she became involved with Massimo.
“Around that time, I started playing Megan with the secret that she actually wanted to be Brooke. If my character were to ever come back, I’d like to see her seeking revenge — and winning!
“I also loved any scenes that had Mike Guthrie (Ken Hanes) and Megan teaming up against the wicked psycho ways of crazy Sheila. Those scenes brought a lot of humor to the show.”
Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon)
“When I joined the cast of B&B, I never could have imagined the amazing opportunities both personally and professionally that would present themselves to me.
“I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best and most talented actors, crew, and production professionals in the business while traveling the world, recognized as a cast member on the most syndicated television show on the planet.
“What an honor. I am, and forever will be, eternally grateful to Brad Bell and his wonderful family. I am truly humbled.”
