B&B Star Heather Tom Loves Katie’s ‘Bats**t’ Crazy’ Storyline

Longtime “Bold and the Beautiful” star Heather Tom has played the gamut of storylines in her nearly-three-decade soap opera career but loves the many creative twists and turns playing Katie Logan Spencer has given her.

According to Michael Fairman Soaps, Tom revealed that she’s having a blast playing the booze-addicted, crazy Katie. The poor woman remains in a downward spiral since learning her sister Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) declared her love for Katie’s husband Bill (Don Diamont).

Can it Get Worse Than This?
After overhearing Brooke reveal to Bill that she’s still in love with him, Katie went over the edge and entered a cycle of depression and alcoholism.

To show just how far Katie had crashed, the writers had her find a broken glass on the floor with liquor in it and proceed to drink out of the jagged-edged glass.

“I think she is just in a terrible, awful place. Taking that drink out of the broken glass made sense to her at that moment,” she shared of the terrifying scene.

“The issue is that these have been feelings and issues with her for a long time. These are things she thought she had gotten over and dealt with, and moved on from.  Now she is being faced with it again, and it reared its ugly head,” Tom explained.

Reliving Her Past
Tom’s current storyline arc is a stark contrast to when she portrayed Katie as a new man suffering from postpartum depression. Then, the character deliberately pushed Bill back into Brooke’s arms.

“During her postpartum, Katie was convinced she was going to die, and she was looking for someone to take care of her son. She orchestrated Bill and Brooke to plan for his future,” Tom said.

“I suppose the postpartum depression was a little bit of playing crazy, but I have never played the whole bats**t crazy thing. I have always wanted to, and that makes me even more excited about playing it,” she laughed.
