The Bold and the Beautiful News Update: Why Scott Clifton Did NOT Get An Emmy Nod

Last year on The Bold and the Beautiful, not only did one story drive much of the action (baby Beth’s kidnapping and how that affected her parents), but the actors playing Beth’s parents appeared regularly throughout the year. One performer scored a Daytime Emmy nomination, but the other one did not. What happened?

Scott Clifton: His Own Decision

Annika Noelle (Hope) earned a nod in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series for her work as a tortured mother who mourned the loss of her baby and later, experienced unadulterated joy upon learning that her darling daughter was indeed alive!

The moment in which Liam (Scott Clifton) and Hope celebrated the news that Beth was alive on top of the roof at Forrester Creations was soap opera gold! Clifton, however, did not receive a nod. He played tons of angst over Liam’s loss. But when the names of nominated stars were read today, he was not among them. Here’s one key reason why: the actor did not submit his name for consideration!

Clifton, who has three Daytime Emmys on his mantel, has won all three awards for playing BB’s Liam. He has taken home gold in all three acting categories for which he is or has been eligible: Outstanding Younger Leading Actor (2011), Outstanding Supporting Actor (2013), and Outstanding Lead Actor (2017). He tweeted out congratulations to his co-stars who were nominated: Noelle, Thorsten Kaye (Ridge) for Outstanding Lead Actor, and Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) and Heather Tom (Katie) for Outstanding Lead Actress.

Viewers recall in the second half of the year, Ridge and Brooke came into conflict over his son Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). Katie faced a crisis when she became ill and needed a new kidney.

“Sorry I didn’t see your name among the other actors,” tweeted @cprsmom3. “You certainly had an amazing acting year.” Clifton responded that he did not submit himself this year, but added that the day was filled with “nothing but good news!”

The 47th Annual Daytime Emmys will be broadcast live on Friday, June 26 starting at 8 p.m. ET. Don’t miss the show to find out which of your favorite stars will win the gold! The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
