News bulletins pre-empting soaps is a fact of life. Most of the time, they come out of the blue, but CBS has sent out an advance notice that today’s episodes of The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful may be pre-empted on the east coast.
Bold and the Beautiful and Young and the Restless To Air?
CBS and CBSN will air President Joe Biden’s first press conference at approximately 1:15 p.m. In many markets, YR starts airing at 12:30 on the east coast. BB commences at 1:30 p.m. It’s likely that YR will be truncated and BB may not air at all, but all of that depends on the length of the conference, which is usually followed up by news reporters offering analysis.
“CBS News will air a Special Report across the board on the CBS Television Network tomorrow, March 25 at approximately 1:15 PM, ET, for coverage of President Joe Biden’s first press conference,” a statement from CBS read.
“CBS News Chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett will anchor the CBS News Special Report and will be joined by senior political and White House correspondent Ed O’Keefe and senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang. Chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes will be inside the White House’s East Room.”
Should YR and/or BB be pre-empted partially or fully today — or any day — viewers have options. They can go to CBS.com and/or the Paramount Plus App to view their favorite soaps on digital platforms, provided that the shows still air on the west coast.
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, March 23, Bold and the Beautiful celebrated its 34th anniversary. On Friday, March 26, Young and the Restless will celebrate its 48th year. Both serials were created by the late William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell. Today, Bradley Bell is BB’s executive producer and head writer. Anthony Morina is the executive producer of YR; Josh Griffith is the show’s co-executive producer and head writer.
