Ever wondered what it’s like to go overseas with the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful on one of their remotes? Now, you’re getting the chance with the two-part special Becoming Bold and Beautiful.
The Bold and the Beautiful On Location
Starting Monday, April 27, in BB’s regular time slot, viewers will see a mini-documentary that shows what it’s like for the cast and production team to shoot overseas. When BB went abroad to attend the Monte Carlo Television Festival, hosted by Prince Albert of Monaco, the show also shot some remote footage.
Supervising producer Casey Kasprzyk donned a director’s hat to put together Becoming Bold and Beautiful. “These episodes are also a gift to our audiences,” Kasprzyk told TV Insider. “Nothing will ever beat an original episode of BB, but this is a nice opportunity to show something we hope will be an exciting alternative.”
Kasprzyk says Becoming Bold and Beautiful takes viewers backstage to press events and also shows producer/director Cindy Popp mapping out a scene between Rena Sofer (Quinn) and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy). The two characters were not on good terms at the time so their encounter in Monte Carlo is fraught with potential tension.
No amount of preparation can prevent bad weather. Kasprzyk says that an unexpected rain forecast reminded him of just how funny his boss, Bradley Bell, executive producer/head writer, is.
“We encountered unexpected weather on our second day when we had this whole beach scene planned,” Kasprzyk recollects. “Brad’s famous deadpan line was ‘Rain is expensive so…just use it.’ So, we had our actors running in the rain and it just added to the atmosphere of the scene.
“Whether you’re a longtime viewer or someone who’s newer to the show,” Kasprzyk adds, “this will give people a chance to see how a daytime show is put together.” Becoming Bold and Beautiful airs in BB’s regular time slot for two consecutive days starting Monday, April 27. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS.
