On The Bold and the Beautiful, Liam Spencer, played by Scott Clifton, mistakenly thought once that Thomas was being intimate with Hope when it was really the Hope mannequin. Now, Clifton is warning social media followers about real-life imposters so they’re not left confused as Liam once was.
Scott Clifton: An Original
Clifton has spoken out in the past on social media when he wants to clear the air on subjects that are important to him. Now, he’s doing so again so that people remain informed.
“I’ve been meaning to post something about this for a while now,” Clifton began in a reel that’s been posted to his Instagram account. “And the problem seems to be getting worse. So just a general PSA [Public Service Announcement]…I’ve gotten dozens of [direct messages] from you guys asking about certain accounts that are claiming to be either me or someone who represents me, wanting something from them.”
Filled With Phonies
Clifton shot a video to help settle the matter. He has a very clear message to anyone who thinks that he or his representatives are trying to contact them. “It’s not me,” he says. “There’s an increasing imposter problem. Lots of people, especially on Instagram, are pretending to be somebody else and reach out to that person’s fans or followers.”
Other actors have spoken out about social media imposters, including Sean Kanan (Deacon), Peter Reckell (ex-Bo, Days of our Lives), and Tracey Bregman (Lauren, The Young and the Restless).
Scott Clifton: Is It Live Or Is It Memorex?
Clifton says that there’s a simple way to know whether or not followers of the actor are reading a genuine account of his or not. “The way you know it’s me,” he says, “[is to] just check my handle — @Cliftoncam — if it’s not that, it’s not me or anyone who represents me. Feel free to block and report. That’s what I do. I’m sorry for the hassle.”
“Omg.. this happened to me as well,” shared @luvnsagelady, “Of course I blocked the person immediately! I knew better. Thank you for sharing this, as some people probably say mostly women (we are huge fans, admire, and respect your craft, so much) could definitely fall victim.” Check out Clifton’s Instagram video below.
