Daytime Emmy award-winning actor and Bold and the Beautiful alum Jacob Young, who played Brooke and Eric’s son Rick Forrester for years on the CBS soap, recently updated fans on the amazing things he has been doing lately.

Jacob Young: Making Movies And Giving Back

He joined fellow All My Children alumni Alicia Minshew (ex-Kendall), Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Griffin), and Melissa Claire Egan (ex-Annie, AMC; Chelsea, Y&R) for a Zoom fan event hosted by Coastal Entertainment. The question on everybody’s lips was, what is he up to now?

Since his days in Pine Valley, the actor moved on to Los Angeles and appeared on B&B. The last time fans heard about his character, Rick Forrester, he and Maya (Karla Mosley) had broken up, and he was living in Paris, working at Forester International.

Young quickly updated fans about his own personal life and the exciting projects he is working on. “I’m currently living in Charleston, South Carolina, but I’m currently in Nashville, Tennessee.” He gave a career update. “I’m not on a soap opera, as you know, but I just finished a film up in Missouri. It was a sci-fi comedy, a pretty funny little film.”

The actor grew very animated talking about another current project, near and dear to his heart, called Work With Working Actors, an entertainment workshop co-founded with another All My Children alum, Trent Garrett (ex-Asher), who also surprised former castmates and fans by appearing on the Zoom. “We’re here in Nashville, Tennessee, because we have created a film program where we’re giving back to underprivileged students in urban areas in order for them to be able to not only write their own films but also be a part of it the entire way.

“When I started speaking with these different schools, I realized what their pathway programs were,” he explained. He went into detail about how the idea blossomed into a full-grown program. “Some of these students will go to secondary schools. Some will go to vocational schools or come out of there with a vocational like whether it’s in transportation, hospitality, culinary media, et cetera, et cetera.

“I realized that all of these programs actually fall under a film set,” he continued. “How do we incorporate all of those things? So, we are currently in Hampton, Virginia, this year. We’re doing four schools that are creating short films, and they’re competing against each other. Then, we’re going to have a film festival for them. The winner gets a AAA cash prize from the Virginia Film Commission, which is amazing.”

Jacob Young shared with fans details about the program. “We’ve had great partnerships, mentors, like just last week, we had Michael Waldron, who wrote and he’s currently writing the new Avengers. He wrote Loki. He wrote Doctor Strange. He took some time out of his busy schedule to mentor these kids. They light up when they know who these people are and who have been involved in these kinds of projects.”

The actor announced that his inspirational program is expanding, and he couldn’t be happier. “Long story long, I’m in Nashville, Tennessee, because the program is expanding to Knoxville and Nashville.” Young revealed, “We have 16 more locations, meaning it’s probably gonna be about another like 30 more films that are gonna be created next school year.”
