A Critic’s Review of The Bold and the Beautiful: Way To Go, Hope

When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For a week, we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of BB’s week that was.

The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review

Hope (Annika Noelle) is woman, hear her roar/Her husband did something too stupid to ignore/So she showed his cheating backside the door! Sing along if you know the words!

Sorry, please excuse that little digression. What were trying to say, is go, Hope! Yes, it took you far longer to reach your decision than it would any other reasonable person, but you finally did it and we couldn’t support you more. If only your actual family felt the same way.

Instead, your mother poo-pooed your concerns and actually accused you of being prideful – rather than absolutely sensible. And then she and your aunts forwent offering you the comfort that you clearly needed, and they instead exhausted themselves by going out of their way to ingratiate Flo (Katrina Bowden) into the family.

Yes, the same Flo who participated in a scam that kept you from the baby you believed to have died upon delivery. Did anybody else find that…inappropriate at best?

Further BB Musings

* Happy belated (by five days) birthday BB! Thirty-four years. Gosh, it seems like only yesterday that Eric (John McCook) was making goo-goo eyes at a stunning brunette, and Katie (then, Nancy Sloan; currently, Heather Tom ) was butting into other peoples business, and Ridge (then, Ronn Moss; currently, Thorsten Kaye) was letting his *ahem* libido do the thinking for him. The more things change…

* So, Flo’s got a new job, she’s been welcomed into the Logan fold, and she’s just accepted a marriage proposal. Anybody else think we’ve just solved the recently teased mystery of who winds up meeting a grisly fate?

* Last week, we discussed a feature of this soap that just isn’t working for us: the usage of just two, interconnected storylines for the whole of the week (or, more precisely, the four episodes aired).

This week (or, again, more precisely, the four episodes aired) it was more of the same. It was either Hope and Liam (Scott Clifton) arguing, and people discussing Hope and Liam’s plight – or Thomas’s (Matthew Atkinson) obsession with Hope and hatred of Liam – or it was all about Flo.

Again, we put forth the argument that less is not more. Less is less. We’d like more, please. More of our favorite characters/actors and more storylines playing out simultaneously. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
