When it comes to The Bold and the Beautiful, every fan has their opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of BB’s week that was.
The Bold and the Beautiful: A Critic’s Week In Review
So, the truth has been outed. Finn (Tanner Novlan) is indeed the father of Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) unborn baby, and the test was tampered with by a well-meaning Vinny (Joe LoCicero).
Well, we say the truth has been outed. Point of fact, the only people who actually know are Finn, Vinny, Thomas (Matthew Atkinson), and Hope (Annika Noelle). Steffy, who the news is sure to affect the most, is still in the dark.
And that’s all down to Finn deciding to make the overt romantic gesture of proposing marriage, in order to keep her from leaving the country and heading to Paris. First of all, he really should have led with, you don’t have to make this “ultimate sacrifice” because I am the father…not Liam (Scott Clifton). Maybe he just…forgot. In the heat of the moment and all that.
Secondly, say what now? Steffy had decided to up stakes and move to Paris in order to spare Finn the indignity of raising another man’s child? And this decision was made after he made upteen pledges of love and devotion to both her and the baby, paternity be damned? And she wasn’t even going to call and tell Liam that she was absconding with their daughter until AFTER they landed in the City of Lights?
Is everybody sure that Steffy hasn’t relapsed into her drug taking? Because it was exactly that kind of ridiculous behavior that was exhibited during her downward spiral. Surely everybody remembers “switchbladegate.”
At least this storyline is well and truly over with. And now, with real-life encroaching on the reel-life storylines, here’s hoping that the many characters who have long been ignored and placed on the back burner will finally get their chance in the sun.
Have Quinn (Rena Sofer) and Eric (John McCook) truly reconciled all their differences? How much more convincing does Katie (Heather Tom) need before she takes Bill (Don Diamont) back? Will Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) be given something to do other than discuss their children’s sex lives? What drama will spring forth from Flo (Katrina Bowden) working at Forrester Creations? And is Shauna (Denise Richards) really happy with merely being Eric’s martini-swilling confidant?
Further BB Musings
* Good on you Paris (Diamond White)! Zoe (Kiara Barnes) tried it, again, and you told her exactly what she needed to hear. Whether or not it made an impression remains to be seen. But we’re gonna guess no.
And speaking of Zoe, did anyone else roll their eyes when she made the claim that one of the reasons she had relocated to L.A. was to divest herself of pesty Paris? Viewers know good and well that she stalked Xander Avant all the way from England, and winning him back – come hell or high water – had been her only motivation for the move.
* Did our ears deceive us, or did Thomas actually mention that there was an imminent fashion show? Do you think that we’ll actually be privy to said show? And bye the bye, when was the last time that this show, which is supposed to be based around a fashion house-owning family, actually featured a full-on garment parade?
* How far do you think Vinny actually ran before somebody, anybody stopped him and wondered just what the heck was going on? Inquiring minds want to know. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
