What Camryn Grimes Really Wants To See For Mariah And Tessa On Young and the Restless

Camryn Grimes has been on The Young and the Restless since she was a little girl. After Cassie tragically died, it seemed like her time on the soap was over, but then she was able to return as Cassie’s twin, Mariah. Now Mariah is grown, and she has a wife, Tessa, and a daughter, Aria. Here’s what the actress really wants to see for Mariah and Tessa in the coming months, and it might not be the type of thing you think.

Relationship Tests

Grimes (who experienced this first with her son) recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest, and she told them she knows that couples on soaps can’t just live happily ever after. After all, there has to be some drama for it to be soapy. However, she has some specific ideas about what she’d love to see for Mariah and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) as they raise Aria.

“I’ve always said this in interviews: limiting a married couple on the show to obstacles that only involve cheating or splitting up or getting back together, I think, is not always the strongest move, although it is compelling. And yes, we are on a soap opera; people will cheat, and they will divorce, and they will get back together,” she admitted.

“I think there are also very real stories that you can tell between people who are committed to each other and stay committed but struggle through something. I would always be welcome to any story that involves working with Cait, but I would always like to see something like, ‘Let’s get creative and see what would test this couple, maybe without breaking them up.'”

For Grimes, that type of drama feels more realistic. “That’s kind of what real life is,” She said. “I’ve heard it from people who have been married for years, decades, that there are periods of time where you just don’t like the other person, like you’re just not getting along and not seeing eye to eye for whatever reason. I think that’s very real and probably hard to navigate.”
