K-pop band BTS band members are in quarantine for the next few weeks. Pop stars RM, Suga, and Jin announced they each tested positive for Covid-19. The band is back in South Korea and will be following the countries pandemic protocols.

LL Cool J is another of Covid’s latest victims. The hip-hop superstar put a halt on his plans to perform at the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve after testing positive. Also stepping down from the traditional concert is Chlöe. She decided to step back as well in light of recent events.

The Pope made headlines this week when a UK broadcaster almost accidentally announced his death. Pope Francis is very much alive and carrying out his duties at the Vatican.

Entertainment News: In Memoriam

The world lost a national treasure this week with the death of Betty White on New Year’s Eve. The entertainment icon died peacefully at her home at 99 years old. Betty is known worldwide as a mega celebrity and holds the record for the longest TV career of any woman in history thus far. She was a mere weeks away from her centennial celebration on January 17, 2022.

Canadian comedian and TV personality, Candy Palmer, died this week. The ‘The Candy Show’ star’s passing was reported by her partner on Christmas Day. She was 53 years old.

The Marvelettes lost one of their own this month. Singer Wanda Young died on December 15 due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Her daughter announced the passing to the press over the weekend. Wanda was 78 years old.

Famed director Jean-Marc Vallée died unexpectedly on December 26th. He passed at his family’s cabin in Quebec, Canada. The 53-year-old filmmaker is known for his thought-provoking films such as Dallas Buyers Club and the smash hit HBO series Big Little Lies.

The NFL lost a legend this week with the death of John Madden. The retired coach and broadcaster passed away unexpectedly on December 28th at 85 years old.

ESPN Reporter Jeff Dickerson lost his battle with colon cancer on December 28th. The 44-year-old was best known for covering the Chicago Bears for over two decades on the infamous sports network. In the hours following his death, his fans raised upwards of $350,000 for his family.
