Ryan Murphy, the creator of such television shows as Glee, American Crime Story, and others is going to produce shows for Netflix, but he’s continuing his relationship with FX, home to his on-going anthology series American Horror Story.
When that show returns for its next installment, titled American Horror Story: Cult, viewers can expect to see some new faces in addition to ones that Murphy has utilized in the past. According to published reports, the exec is adding not only Oscar winner Anjelica Huston to his roster of talent, but also Dynasty legend Joan Collins!
The next installment of American Horror Story will be set in the future and stars Kathy Bates (Misery), Sarah Paulson (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story), Evan Peters, and other familiar faces from past Murphy productions.
“You know everybody involved says they’re really optimistic about it — that they would want to read a script and then everybody wants to bring the band back together,” Murphy told E!
Collins is best known to TV viewers for her Golden Globe-winning run as Alexis Morel Carrington Colby on Dynasty, the ABC prime time serial that shot to the top of the ratings in the 1980s.
After Dynsaty, Collins appeared on Will & Grace, Guiding Light, The Nanny, Pacific Palisades, and The Royals.
During her run on GL, she portrayed Alexandra Spaulding, the part originated by Beverlee McKinsey. Collins’ Alexandra was determined to break apart Olivia Spencer (Crystal Chappell) and Alex’s brother Alan, played by Ron Raines.
Recently, Collins attended an evening at the Paley Media Center where Murphy interviewed Oscar-winning music legend Barbara Streisand.
American Horror Story: Cult doesn’t have an official air date as of now, however, Murphy has said he’d prefer it to wrap up before the holidays so it’s possible we could see the series debut sometime in September.
