Ted King has been in soaps for nearly 30 years and now he’s been honored with daytime television’s top honor. The Bold and the Beautiful star was in contention for a Daytime Emmy and on Saturday, the actor learned he won the gold. Also, King shared whether or not we’ll be seeing Jack again!
Ted King Wins A Daytime Emmy
It was the last award of the night at the 49th Annual Daytime Creative Arts and Lifestyle Emmys presentation. King was nominated in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Daytime Drama Series for his portrayal of B&B’s Jack Finnegan along with co-star Naomi Matsuda (Li Finnegan), Ptosha Storey (Naya Benedict, The Young and the Restless), Michael Lowry (Dr. Snyder, Days of our Lives), and Robert Gossett (Marshall Ashford, General Hospital).
“I’m very proud to be a part of this category,” King said in his acceptance speech. “I doubted I would win this for years. It kept me from participating. I teach my kids not to fail and yet, I was afraid to participate. Inevitably, it’s the failures that make us better creatives.
It Starts at the Top
“Thanks to Brad Bell [executive producer/head writer], Ed [Scott, supervising producer] — you know I love you — and his amazing team,” King continued. “My amazing scene partner, Naomi. You’re fantastic and the crew of B&B.
“A special shoutout to Eva Basler, Vice President Communications at B&B who put this reel of my work together and demanded that I submit it because I was too chicken to do so,” King praised. “Thank you. My ultimate gratitude goes out to my amazing gorgeous, funny, strong wife Maya and my gorgeous children Ava and Vivienne. Award or no award, you validate my life every single day.” Click here to see King’s speech.
Soap Hub was backstage when King talked to the press about his victory. “Pretty surreal,” the actor replied when asked how he felt about his win. “I would name every single person I work with on B&B if I could but there’s no time for that. It has been a welcoming experience. My experience is that comes from that top. If you have a great person at the top like Brad Bell, you’re going to have a great show.
Ted King – Jack’s Back
“I’ve had some highs and lows in the industry as all actors do,” King said. “It’s kind of amazing when we get to this point. You feel really, really grateful that people are watching and that people appreciate what you do.”
While viewers have been wondering about Jack’s absence from the canvas, King shared backstage that he is coming back to the show. “I taped some scenes,” he says. “I don’t know when they’re going to air.”
