Justin Gaston Takes a Chance on Being a Country Singer in God’s Country Song

Soap fans know Justin Gaston from his short but memorable turn as Chance on The Young and the Restless. He played the Chancellor heir when he and Abby, who is portrayed by Gaston’s real-life wife Melissa Ordway, tied the knot. Others may recall him as Ben Rogers on Days of our Lives. Now, Gaston’s headlining his own movie about a country singer who’s at personal and professional crossroads.

Justin Gaston Stars in God’s Country Song

In God’s Country Song, Gaston plays Noah Bryan, an aspiring country singer who is on the verge of a career breakthrough when he learns that he’s the father of a young boy named JJ (JJ Miller), whose mother has died. Gaston, a real-life dad to daughters Olivia and Sophie, says he could relate to the paternal character and also Noah’s love of singing.

“It’s always amazing when I can bring [singing] to a character,” Gaston tells Soap Hub. “Noah is from the south like I am. The movie’s about faith, family, and second chances — all the things about which I’m passionate.”

Gaston says he had a handle on Noah before he ever walked on set because he first recorded songs in a studio as his movie character. Noah’s parents are played by Mariel Hemingway (Star 80) and John Laughlin (Crimes of Passion). “Mariel is so kind and funny,” Gaston says. “We laughed a lot and got along from the moment we met. John’s the same; we met at the fitting, and he said, ‘Let’s go grab some dinner.’ He’s a kind person and a giving actor.”

In the trailer for God’s Country Song, Noah gets beat up a bit. Gaston worked with the movie’s stunt experts to bring the scene to life. “The coordinators worked with me and helped me,” the actor says. “I learned so much. We went hard! We were throwing each other on the concrete.”

Noah is faced with finding a way to be both a loving parent to JJ and a successful singer. “He’s wildly unprepared to be a parent — as we all are,” muses Gaston. “It’s not like JJ is a newborn. He has life experiences and a relationship with his mom.” Complicating Noah’s role as a father is his strained dynamic with his own dad. “Noah doesn’t want to mess this kid up. Justin Gaston Releases “The One”

Audiences will have to tune in to God’s Country Song to see how Noah’s journey turns out. Gaston, however, is well on his way to living his music dreams, having released yet another song. “It’s called ‘The One,’” he says. “I did it with one of my best friends who’s a producer in Nashville. I think it turned out great. I’m really excited about it.”
