DAYS Head Writer Ron Carlivati Talks Bo, Hope, Megan, and More

Days of our Lives head writer Ron Carlivati recently traveled to the West Coast to celebrate the show’s 57th anniversary and also attend the annual Day of DAYS fan event. He sat down with Soap Hub to chat about the show’s move to the Peacock, the return of beloved characters Bo Brady and Hope Williams Brady, and much more!

Ron Carlivati — Get Ready for Bo, Hope, and Megan

The biggest news to come out of Day of DAYS is the return of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso). As viewers saw in the preview sizzle reel, Megan Hathaway (Miranda Wilson, Stefano’s daughter) is also returning to the show. Carlivati set this dynamic up in the limited Peacock series DAYS: Beyond Salem 2. “We really gambled on ending with a cliffhanger because we had no guarantee that there was going to be a Beyond Salem 3,” Carlivati tells Soap Hub.

“I knew going in that that would be the ending,” he continues of Hope deciding to go off and search for Megan — not knowing that Bo is alive and with her! “Now that we’re on Peacock…it’s going to be a matter of when and where we’ll put that story.”

A Great Rivalry Revisited

Bo and Hope have faced many foils over the years on the road to happiness, but Megan was one of the couple’s first major obstacles. “She’s incredible,” Ron Carlivati raves of Wilson. “You saw the chemistry with Miranda and Kristian. For someone who hadn’t been on the show in such a long time, [Miranda] is a natural. She knocked it out of the park.”

Ron Carlivati — Fan Reaction

Carlivati took part in the Day of DAYS Q&A session, and he saw firsthand just how devoted the show’s fan base is. “It’s so exciting to see the fans,” the Daytime Emmy-winning scribe says. “We’ve gotten such great response, and it [was] great to be back here in person.”

DAYS debuted in color on November 8, 1965, as a half-hour serial, switched to the 60-minute format in 1975, and, earlier this year, it became the first broadcast soap opera to move exclusively to a streaming platform — Peacock. Ken Corday is the executive producer. Albert Alarr is co-executive producer. Carlivati is the head writer.
