Joshua Hoffman may be new to The Bold and the Beautiful, but he’s already learned that the show is fond of on-set celebrations. The actor was on hand for a photo/press opportunity when the half-hour soap opera recently celebrated its 9,000th episode. Soap Hub was on the scene and chatted with the actor about joining the daytime drama.
Joshua Hoffman: “Cold Feet”
Hoffman warmly embraced getting the role of B&B’s Ridge “RJ” Forrester Jr., but he says his journey began with some cold feet — literally. The actor was up in Big Bear cabin last winter when some unusually high amounts of snow hit the area. “I was stuck in about nine feet of snow, got to the audition, and now, I’m here,” he shares.
Who’s Who at B&B
The daytime newcomer is up on the basics of his character. He’s the only son of Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang). RJ has been off the canvas, but there’s a logical explanation for that. “He’s been away and has spent a lot of time away [because] he doesn’t enjoy the drama going on,” Hoffman offers. Currently, RJ’s father and mother, who’ve been married on and off throughout his life, are officially split. “[RJ] is back for a very specific reason,” teases Hoffman. “I’ve been enjoying seeing different parts of his character.”
Joshua Hoffman: Shameless Days
Hoffman’s credits include playing the recurring role of Les on Showtime’s Shameless. “That was great,” he recalls. “I was a bit younger then. It was the first job I ever had. Working on that set was absolutely wild. I learned so much there. The directors were very open to teaching me.”
At B&B, Hoffman says that Kaye has taken him under his wing to help show him the ropes of daytime drama. “He’s been giving me recommendations, little details about how to work on a soap opera, specifically,” the actor says. As for having the legendary Lang for a TV mom, Hoffman says with a smile, “She’s great, amazing.”
