With soap production shut down since March, our favorite stars have been home like so many of us due to the coronavirus pandemic. General Hospital star Ashton Arbab has used this time to reflect about life — and he tells Soap Hub all about it in this exclusive chat.

What have you learned about yourself these past few months at home?
How much I love my family. And, doing simple things at home, like puzzles with my mom, painting with my sister, and building my basketball goal with my dad.
Have you had any fun since things began to open up again?
Yes, I have been wearing a mask and going to the beach with friends and rollerblading on the Strand in Manhattan Beach. I also participated in the nonviolent march at the beach for Black Lives Matter.
Have you been shopping and what did you buy?
I bought a basketball hoop and picked it up curbside due to quarantine.
The Music Man
Did you write any songs during this time?
I have written four new songs that I am currently producing, and can’t wait to release in the next few months.
Do you prefer singing or acting?
I love both because its a part of me but if I have to choose, I would choose acting because I like to portray different characters.
What big star would you like to act in a movie with right now?
I would love to have an opportunity to work with Timothée Chalamet because he is an incredible actor and close to my age.
What’s the longest you have gone without checking out social media and using your cellphone?
Probably 10 hours, while I am sleeping. Yes, I’m addicted to social media!
All In The Family
Do you always answer when your parents call your cell?
Yes, I always answer my parents, because I don’t want them to worry. But, I prefer text messaging, rather than a voice call, when I am with my friends!
Are you a great brother and does your sister agree?
Not always! My sister and I are five years apart and sometimes she thinks I am immature.
What is your best quality as a son?
I think it is that I am very honest and open with my parents, and that creates better communication and respect between us.
What is the best advice your parents have given you?
The best advice my parents give me is to never give up on my dreams, stay true to your passion, and to yourself by being disciplined, focus, and determination are the three ingredients of success.

What is your usual favorite way to spend the weekend?
Hanging out with my friends in my Man Cave, jamming out making music.
What TV show would fans be surprised you never miss?
Outer Banks and Stranger Things on Netflix.
What is the one favorite vacation spot you can’t wait to visit?
I would like to go to India and visit my dad’s homeland, taste authentic Indian food, listen to music, and explore the cultural sites.
Did you miss out on any hockey during the lockdown?
Yes, I did. All the ice rinks were closed, but I played street hockey on rollerblades.
What if you had to decide on a hockey career or acting and singing – can you do it all?
I have been able to balance hockey, acting, and singing as a teenager. But, as a professional career choice, I would have to choose one – and that would be acting, because that is what I think I am best at.
What’s your favorite summer activity?
Going out on a boat and jet skiing.
When is the last time you had a good laugh?
The best laugh I had was with my friend, actor Justin Reed. He was pulling a prank on his brother, Josh – and it was hysterical!
Favorite TV show when you were a little kid?
I liked The Suite Life of Zac & Cody, and I still watch actor Cole Sprouse on Riverdale.
Favorite workout activity?
Playing basketball, street hockey, and boxing.
What would you say to Elvis if you met him today?
I’d say ‘your music is timeless and I am your biggest fan – and I would love to go on tour with you!’
