When You’re Torn Between Two Lovers — Soap Opera Style

Love on a soap opera can be a bumpy road – especially when the equation includes three people instead of two. Triangles can be horribly messy but we love them so much. Here are some of our favorite soap opera men who always seem to fall in love in pairs.

The Young and the Restless
There’s only one Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) in Genoa City – unfortunately for him. Or at least that was the case when he was in love with both Nikki and Ashley.

It seemed like he and Ashley were star-crossed, destined to be together against her family’s wishes (okay, mostly Jack’s), but alas, their love couldn’t survive that undeniable pull that Nikki has always had on him. Well, that and he thought Nikki was going to die.

General Hospital
While it may seem that Sonny (Maurice Benard) was always destined to be with Carly, there were other women in his life–Brenda Barrett for one. He wanted her yet was supposed to remain happily married to Lily — but that marriage bombed…so to speak.

And while his push and pull with Carly is legendary, she always seemed to catch him with other women, like Alexis and a returned-from-the-dead Brenda. Then came Sam, and they began an affair even though he was still in love with Carly. What’s a popular guy to do?

Days of Our Lives
Poor John Black (Drake Hogestyn) was madly in love with his wife Marlena, who was tragically killed (when he thought he was Roman Brady).

He eventually moved on with his life and fell for Isabella and he never thought he could love someone like that again. Oops, what’s a guy to do when the woman he loves returns from the dead?

Well, we won’t get into what happened next because that’s a long story, but suffice it to say, it’s always come back to Doc for John, even when Marlena had to fight off Kristen and even God to get him back. Guess it’s only fair since he had to battle the devil for her.

The Bold and the Beautiful
Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) has always been torn between two women. First it was Caroline and Brooke. Then Brooke and Taylor – which went back and forth for many years. Now he’s decided to add his stepmother into the mix.

After working so hard to get Brooke back into his life, he remained true to her for about five seconds and decided he had to lust after his father’s wife. He doesn’t seem content unless he’s juggling at least two women but does it have to be one who’s with his father – again?!
