It’s been more than a month since Kristoff St. John was found dead in his home by a friend and now his cause of death has been made public.
According to the case records and E! News, the Young and the Restless star’s death was ruled an accident with the cause being hypertrophic heart disease.
The 52-year-old passed away back in February and police initially believed it was due to an alcohol overdose.
“The news of Kristoff St. John’s passing is heartbreaking. He was a very talented actor and an even better person,” CBS Television Network and Sony Pictures Television said in a statement after his death.
“For those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him on The Young and the Restless for the last 27 years, he was a beloved friend whose smile and infectious laugh made every day on set a joy and made audiences love him.”
The statement continued, “On behalf of the Y&R cast and crew, CBS and Sony Pictures Television, we offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family and loved ones, especially his two daughters, Paris and Lola.”
His beloved fiancée, Kseniya Mikhaleva, also recently revealed she wasn’t able to attend his funeral because her emergency visa was denied.
“Several weeks ago I applied for an ’emergency’ visa for the funeral to say goodbye my fiancé and beloved,” she wrote on Instagram at the beginning of the month.
“The reply from the Embassy was ‘No’. My heart is broken. I am going through this with a huge pain in my heart, and realize that I don’t have the opportunity to say goodbye to him and put flowers on his grave.”
She continued, “It is not right, not fair. Fly, my love, and finally find peace. Any person in my place would be torn into pieces. It’s scary, painful, that I cannot be with my loved one and his family on his last journey to eternal peace.”
