You’ll Never Guess Fans’ Biggest Problem With Daytime!

Throughout the years, the biggest soap fans have devoted many hours of their lives to watching their stories. These devotees tune in every day at the same time, and not surprisingly, they want to see their scheduled soap with amazing storylines.

With the great also comes the frustrating for fans. Sometimes storylines are intriguing and sometimes they fall flat. Plus, networks don’t give soaps the respect they deserve, which can also cause aggravation for fans.

Soap Hub asked what you think the biggest problem with soaps today is, and you weren’t shy about answering.

So Bad It’s NOT Good…
Without good stories, daytime drama is unwatchable. It’s not surprising that 56% of you think the biggest issue facing the genre today is bad writing.

Whether it’s doubles on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) or creating a character fans fall in love with just to have her leave like Hayden (Rebecca Budig) on General Hospital (GH), fans are so over storylines that are boring, bad, or just don’t make any senses at all.

Of course, it’s nearly impossible to please everyone. For all the fans who love that Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) returned to The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), there are plenty who hate it so much and just want her gone — again.

The Young and the Restless (YR) also has fans feeling conflicted with the unexpected pairing of Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks).

Intrusive Interruptions
Last year’s presidential election provided some daytime interruptions, but who had any idea the interruption madness that 2017 would bring? For 47% of you, near incessant interruptions during your favorite shows are maddening!

Between a multitude of White House interruptions and lots of other breaking news, at times it seems as if there hasn’t been a week so far this year without at least one interruption for daytime.

You are so over it, which is, of course, not at all surprising. How do you even know if a storyline is good if you never get to actually see it?

For the remaining 3%, both these problems are equally bad for soap operas today. You have had it with bad storylines and interruptions. Is there any hope for a change? As soap fans know, with a new day/episode, there’s almost always hope…
