It seems like nobody ever dies or goes away permanently on soap operas. Before the door even shuts when somebody leaves, vocal fans already want to see them back.
Returns are a staple of daytime drama. Sometimes they last for months or years, but sometimes they’re simply for a few days during a special event.
Soap Hub asked how you feel about short-term returns on your favorite shows, and the responses poured in. Check out the fun results.
Any Time, Any Way
Returns are exciting! At least that’s how for 59% of you see it. You’ll take your favorites any way you can get them.
Recently on General Hospital, Luke’s (Anthony Geary) one-day silent return in Port Charles thrilled fans. Did you see his hair?
This fall, Days of Our Lives (DOOL) has lots of returns slated for Salem. Some will likely occur before the holidays and others will show up in town to celebrate some special family time later this year.
Even former DAYS star and current The Young and the Restless (YR) actress Eileen Davidson gets in on the action.
While Sheila’s return on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) isn’t supposed to be permanent, many fans are enjoying her short stint causing plenty of summertime drama!
Just Stay Away Already
Meanwhile, 41% of you are less than thrilled with returns. If they can’t stay more than a few epiosodes, you’d rather not see them at all.
Perhaps you didn’t love when Stone (Michael Sutton) recently popped up in Sonny’s mind to help him through the aftermath of getting shot by Sam (yeah, yeah, we know it wasn’t really her fault because she was sick).
Maybe you’re afraid that Sami (Alison Sweeney) and Will’s (Chandler Massey) upcoming return to Salem will be a major letdown.
Whatever the reason, you’d prefer for your favorites to either stay on the show, come back for long stints (years even), or simply just stay gone rather than come back for some token, non-storyline moving appearance.
