Will There Be A Tie At The Daytime Emmy Awards This Year?

If you can’t make up your mind as to who should take home gold at the Daytime Emmy Awards each year, you’re not alone! While not common, it’s not unheard of for there to be ties at the awards ceremony that honors the best in daytime programming!

Soap Hub takes a look back at instances in which there were ties in soap opera categories, resulting in more than one person going home with the gold!

Debbi Morgan and Nancy Lee Grahn: Both actresses were up for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series in 1989. Morgan’s reel was of her All My Children character, Angie, saying goodbye to a dying Jesse (Darnell Williams).

Grahn’s clip showed her character, Santa Barbara’s Julia, sharing a painful and powerful memory about her dad.

Grahn’s then-costars, A Martinez (Cruz) and Marcy Walker (Eden), were presenters and announced that both Morgan and Grahn were the winners!

All My Children and The Young and the Restless: The late Agnes Nixon and the late William J. Bell were both honored with nods at the 1997 Daytime Emmys in the category for Outstanding Writing Team Drama Series.

Bonus for AMC: John Callahan (Edmund) and Julia Barr (Brooke) were the presenters!

Jeff Branson and Vincent Irizarry: In 2009, both actors were up for the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series. Presenters Gilles Marini (Ted, Days Of Our Lives) and Rachael Ray (Rachael Ray) first read Irizarry’s name and then Branson’s.

Irizarry thanked his wife and children and co-stars past and present, including Beverlee McKinsey (ex-Alexandra, GL). For Branson, the honor was bittersweet as GL was about to go off the air.

Might there be ties again this year? To find out, don’t miss the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards live on social media platforms Facebook and Twitter on Sunday, May 5 at 8 pm, EST.
