Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Former Soap Star Looks For New Primetime Life

 Comments

There’s been some sad news for fans of the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as well as the show’s cast, which includes Melissa Fumero, who played Adrianna on One Life to Live. Fox has canceled the Andy Samburg-starring series after five seasons.

But, is the show really over? There’s been a big outcry from some famous folks lamenting the cancellation of the show.

Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) tweeted that Brooklyn Nine Nine was one of only four shows he enjoys and should be kept!

Deadline reports the outrage of the show’s cancellation may help the series rise like a Phoenix from the ashes!

In addition to Miranda, actors Mark Hamill (Star Wars) and late night TV host Seth Meyers (Samberg’s former co-star on Saturday Night Live) have expressed sadness over the show being axed.

Deadline hears that streaming service Hulu may pick up the show. TBS is another alternative. The series may also have a friend at Netflix, another streaming service.

Bela Bajaria, who is in charge of streaming on Netflix shows that originated elsewhere, helped develop the show when she was president of Universal TV.

Shows going from one broadcast to another isn’t common, but it’s not unheard of either. ABC picked up Scrubs after it was axed at NBC. CBS picked up the show Medium after NBC also canceled that show.

Even soaps have been picked up by other networks. Edge of Night moved from CBS to ABC and Search For Tomorrow moved from CBS to NBC.

Brooklyn Nine Nine stars Samberg as Det. Jake Peralta, a man who shows that you can be a funny guy and a great cop! Will his beat continue? Stay tuned!

Brooklyn Nine Nine airs Sundays on Fox at 8:30 p.m.
