You watch them every day on your favorite daytime dramas, but how well do you know soap stars‘ careers when they’re not on your screen?

One of these fan favorites is taking tests to become a lifeguard! Read on so you won’t have to go to the beach to find out which one it is!

Josh Swickard
This newcomer has shown General Hospital fans he can sing and dance, as well as solve crimes, but is Port Charles’ Det. Chase also a hero by the ocean? Alas, he’s not. (Though if this article spurs the GH writers to give Chase a side job next summer, we’re not complaining.)

While Swickard has worked as a spinning instructor, he is not training to rescue swimmers in peril!

Joshua Morrow
These days, as Nick on The Young and the Restless, Morrow’s more concerned with closing business deals and going up against his dad than he is in running down the beach and into the water to help those in need.

While the top-rated soap has produced a fictional lifeguard in Baywatch’s David Hasselhoff (ex-Snapper, Y&R), Morrow spends his off time coaching sports teams — not patrolling the ocean.

Billy Flynn
On Days of Our Lives, Chad DiMera has rescued Abigail (Marci Miller) from various perils but he’s never donned a swimsuit to save her from treacherous waters. Off-screen, Flynn has crunched numbers (not necessarily abs) working in financial departments at studios.

We’re sure any of these guys could hit the water and save anyone in trouble, there’s only one who’s taking tests to make his lifeguard status official!

Ingo Rademacher
The athletic actor, who plays Thorne on The Bold and the Beautiful, recently shared on Instagram that he’s undergoing some exams to get his lifeguard license. He recently passed the first round and he may be well on his way to the next one.

“Had a great start and possibly came in the top 100 somewhere,” Rademacher posted. “The rules have changed a bit from previous years so now they add up your online test scores with your swim and I’m hoping it’s enough to make it to interview and Rookie school in April.”
