Sure, soaps have stars who are arguably more popular than others, but a solid soap is going to have a well-balanced canvas with multi-generational characters. That said, each show is known to have one front-burner story in particular that stands out as the show’s “A” story. These are the ones hot at the moment!
Delivering A Baby
The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) has put all its eggs (no pun intended) in Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) pregnancy story basket, which actually extends out to several characters.
In addition to compelling scenes among Steffy, Liam (Scott Clifton), and Bill (Don Diamont), other characters including Sally (Courtney Hope) and Hope (Annika Noelle) have been drawn into this saga, courtesy of Liam potentially become a bachelor once more.
Also, the tale has given Heather Tom’s Katie a reason to blast her ex for his cheatin’ ways and that’s always fun to watch.
A Rooster In Salem
The arrival of Stefan O. DiMera (Tyler Christopher) on New Year’s Eve has gotten 2018 off to a very dramatic start on DAYS. The show wisely had Louise Sorel reprise her role as Vivian and tie her to Stefan as his mother.
The charismatic Christopher has made fast enemies in Salem as he’s established his role as a power player within the house of DiMera. He’s also caught the eye of some Salem leading ladies.
Sam’s Dilemma
Bravo to Kelly Monaco for turning in daily compelling performances as Sam is torn (whether she knows it or not) between Drew (Billy Miller) and Jason (Steve Burton). Sam has said she “needs” a divorce from Jason, which is terribly different from wanting a divorce.
People seldom acknowledge their true feelings on soaps. Audiences often know — or think they know — what a character is feeling. The current dynamics among Sam, Jason, Drew, Liz (Rebecca Herbst), Franco (Roger Howarth), and Kim (Tamara Braun) are set to play out over months and months — if not years — and that’s great drama!
Graham Crackers
It looked like we’d seen the last of Graham (Max Shippee) after the Abbott children whisked Dina (Marla Adams) back to Genoa City.
His surprise return has caused Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) to put aside their differences, brought the family drama into the courtroom where we’ve thankfully gotten to see the under-used Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) and more appearances from Beth Maitland’s Traci!
The vials Graham’s got in his possession are an indication that this story will be taking a dangerous turn soon!
