Getting cancelled used to create a hopeless situation soap fans, but with so many new ways and platforms to reach an audience, there seems to be new hope.
After all, Passions went to DirectTV and General Hospital can be seen on Hulu. There are many streaming services out there. But just because there are these new avenues, it doesn’t mean that soap opera fans are willing to watch their favorite shows that way.
Soap Hub decided to ask that very question and over 18,000 wanted to have your voice heard on the subject.
Any Way You Can Get ‘Em
Nearly half of those 18,000 votes gave an enthusiastic thumbs-up – 48% in fact – who are willing to watch their soaps on some kind of streaming service. General Hospital fans want to see what happens when Steve Burton returns and would watch him anywhere.
Old Ways Are The Best Ways
Unfortunately, a very healthy 31% would be left behind because they have no intention of following their soaps elsewhere. You want to see Cane’s (Daniel Goddard) story play out on CBS and that’s the only way you’ll watch.
The Jury Is Out
It seems that 20% of you aren’t all that sure yet. Perhaps if it’s the only way you can follow Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abby’s (Marci Miller) love story on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), you’ll do it. Maybe it depends on your financial woes, since these services cost money.
Other?
Still 1% seems to be contrarians, refusing to commit to even a maybe. We bet if it’s the only way you can find out how Eric (John McCook) is faring after having his heart broken by Quinn (Rena Sofer) on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), you may go for it.
