Relive Guiding Light’s Bauer BBQs and See Current Faves!

Soap fans are always going to miss Guiding Light, the beloved CBS serial that aired for the last time in 2009. But the one day of the year they probably miss it the most is July 4th!

After all, it was on Independence Day every year that the Bauer family, GL’s tentpole clan, held their annual Bauer Barbeque. There’d be a mix of celebrating, angst, surprises, and fireworks of all sorts!

You Can Still See Them Today!
Their GL characters may be no more, but several actors from the show can still be seen on daytime. Emme Rylan (ex-Lizzie, GL) now plays Lulu and Laura Wright (ex-Cassie) plays Carly on General Hospital.

Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Tony, GL) is now Dario on Days of Our Lives, while Daniel Cosgrove (ex-Bill) played Aiden. Crystal Chappel (ex-Olivia) was Carly for many years on the DAYS.

Karla Mosley and Lawrence St. Victor are known today as The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Maya and Carter, but GL fans remember them as, respectively, Christina and Remy.

And of course Rick Hearst (ex-Alan-Michael) has been on pretty much every show.

You’ll see many fond memories and beloved characters in the following clip including (but not limited to): Alan-Michael (Carl T. Evans) parachuting into the Bauer Barbeque when it was held at Johnny’s flight center.

You’ll see when Rick needed a heart transplant, and the last barbeque in 2009 when the Four Musketeers (Phillip, Rick, Mindy, and Beth) shared a reunion!

Oh, it was the summer, too, of course, when the barbeques were held, so there are lots of shirtless hunks in this video — including Matt Bomer (ex-Ben)!
