Soap operas often seem to serve as a springboard for stars who go on to become enormous names in entertainment.
Demi Moore, Alec Baldwin, Julianne Moore, and even Brad Pitt all got their big breaks because of daytime drama… but as it turns out, some already-established actors actually seek out the chance to perform on our favorite long-running serials.
Perhaps the most noteworthy example is James Franco, who is currently making waves for his much-anticipated performance in the upcoming docudrama “The Disaster Artist.”
Back in 2010, Franco made a special effort to appear on “General Hospital,” saying “It was a different form of entertainment than I had ever worked in.
There were performances with different levels and intention that can get audiences thinking in a different way than just about a fictional story.”
As any soap fan can tell you, there is a surprising depth to our favorite shows… and it seems like those same fathoms can help big-name actors bring their best.
