At the annual Daytime Emmy awards, the daytime television community comes together to celebrate the best of the best! Soaps, game shows, talk shows, judge shows, and other forms of programming gather at both the Creative Arts ceremony and the main event to honor the best and brightest of daytime!
Over the years, there have been instances in which voters and blue ribbon panels simply can’t agree unanimously as to who should take home the gold, and in these cases there is a tie!
In the year 1997, four soap operas were up for the award for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series: All My Children, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless.
AMC’s Julia Barr (Brooke) and John Callahan (Edmund) were the award’s presenters. After reading then nominees, Barr opened the envelope and announced that there was a tie in the category.
Fortunately, both winners were present for the awards and each were allowed time at the podium to give their acceptance speeches.
