Famed soap producer John Conboy, who helmed various daytime dramas from the 1970s through the 1990s, has passed away.
The Young and the Restless star Judith Chapman tweeted the news on Friday, and it’s been confirmed by various publications.
Conboy began his soap career at Love Is A Many Splendored Things in 1970, and in 1973 was one of the first producers on Y&R and remained with the CBS soap through 1982. He eventually went on to produce several other now-defunct soaps, including Capitol, Guiding Light, and Santa Barbara.
The producer won several Emmy awards for his work, and also produced several ABC after school specials.
Soap Hub sends our sincerest condolences to Conboy’s loved ones.
