One no-fail reason fans are drawn to soaps: A staple of daytime drama and cliffhangers! Typically occurring on a Friday, these dramatic endings keep fans biting their nails all weekend until Monday’s episode rolls around!

Sami Saved From Death Row
Just moments before dying from a crime she didn’t commit, Sami (Alison Sweeney) received a death row reprieve.
Strapped to a gurney with the lethal injection flowing into her veins, the governor issued a last-minute stay of execution at the same time Lucas confessed to murdering Franco.
However, Sami experienced cardiac arrest, and it seemed all hope was gone. Fortunately, she was later revived at the hospital and went on to be a new woman after her tragic brush with death.
Halloween Gone Wrong
Halloween festivities in 2015 ended in a tragic fire at the Halloween Gala in the newly reopened restaurant at the top of Newman Towers for the Delia Project Foundation. This cliffhanger proved especially difficult because so many children were involved in the scary situation.
Engulfed in flames, the Newman building ultimately explodes, leaving many Genoa City residents’ fate hanging in the balance in the Halloween celebration gone wrong!
Wedding Explosion for Sonny and Brenda!
In 2011 Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Brenda (Vanessa Marcil) tied the knot. However, immediately after she entered the limo to go on their honeymoon, the stretch car exploded, seemingly taking Sonny’s hopes of happiness with it. He’d already lost Lily in a car explosion, so this cliffhanger was devastating.
Ultimately, the body in the car ended up being Sam’s, and Theo had kidnapped Brenda. While she wasn’t dead, the deadly explosion at their wedding didn’t start things off well for the couple who eventually divorced later that year.
Maya’s Major Secret!
On The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), Maya Avant (Karla Mosley) carried a deep secret for some time. Eventually, before she married Rick (Jacob Young), the news came out that Maya originated in a male body whose name was Myron. After a lot of heartaches, Myron transitioned to female and called herself Maya.
While this bombshell could’ve caused everything to fall apart, it did not. Maya married Rick and her sister Nicole carried a child for them.
