Daytime is known for its weddings and marriages, and many don’t last. However, these all-time shortest soap opera marriages will shock you with their brevity!
At least one of these marriages lasted so little time that if you blinked — or missed a few episodes — you likely missed the whole union! Do you remember these super short marriages from The Young and the Restless (YR), General Hospital (GH), Days of Our Lives (DOOL), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB)?
Billy Abbott and Mackenzie Browning Kept it ALL in the Family
While Y&R has no shortage of momentary marriages, perhaps the all-time shortest belongs to none other than Billy Abbott and Mackenzie Browning. These two said, “I do,” and almost immediately after, they found out they were cousins — except that they weren’t.
On their wedding day, Billy’s mom, Jill, was revealed to be Mac’s grandmother and Kay Chancellor’s daughter. Except, of course, that was all false. Unfortunately, the marriage ended before the truth came out. Could this be why Billy is so unlucky in love these days?
Tragic Mobster Union
These days fans love Sonny and Carly (although their future is shaky at best at this point). However, before Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright), there was Sonny and Lily Rivera (Lilly Melgar).
Unfortunately, very shortly into their union in 1996, Lily’s father planted a car bomb to kill Sonny. Instead, Lily tragically lost her life in the explosion leaving Sonny mourning her, as well as their unborn child.
What Happened in Vegas Didn’t Stay in Vegas!
Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley) started out rocky. She went after him for all the wrong reasons, and even though his family tried to warn him, Brady didn’t listen! In a nearly black-out drunk moment, these two got married in a Vegas wedding they didn’t even remember.
After shenanigans with Brady’s father John, which eventually came to light, Brady annulled the quickie marriage after three months. But, as usual on soaps, this wasn’t quite the end of these two and their unexpected love story!
No Need for a Green Card
Liam (Scott Clifton) and Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) got married after she learned she was an illegal immigrant due to her dad filling out her immigration papers incorrectly.
Although Liam had started his relationship with Steffy again, and Ivy thought they were over, she asked him for the marriage of convenience anyway.
Shortly after their wedding, Ivy learned that she was, in fact, in the U.S legally. Shortly after, Liam asked for an annulment.
