Embryos are sweeping the soap nation–or at least the November sweeps soap opera nation.
Three out of four soaps have embryo stories going right now–and Soap Hub essentially called two of them. Last week we theorized that Daniel was the father of the baby Chloe is carrying, and we had a feeling that baby was also Nicole’s.
Of course, Chloe had herself implanted with an embryo and didn’t think it worked. That would explain Ken Corday’s foreshadowing of a baby story that involved Nicole–and it’s PERFECT!
We Saw That Coming I
Does anyone deserve a baby more than Nicole (Arianne Zucker)? After all she’s been through, we couldn’t have thought of a better temporary happy ending for this character–a baby, and Daniel’s baby.
Now, we only say temporary because it’s a soap and nobody stays happy for long, but we can’t wait to see the “end” of this story when…continue reading on the next page —>
Now, we only say temporary because it’s a soap and nobody stays happy for long, but we can’t wait to see the “end” of this story when Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) decides to give up this baby she is carrying to its biological mother. And to bring back Shawn Christian in newly-created flashbacks! We NEVER saw that coming today. Well done, DAYS!
We Saw That Coming II
Of course, General Hospital’s embryo story seems a bit more contrived with a bit more of the ick factor. Lulu’s embryos were created under duress–and with Stavros Cassadine’s sperm.
He stole those eggs from her, which almost seems like rape, but Lulu (Emme Rylan) wants another child any way she can get one–and it seems more and more likely that child is Charlotte.
Perhaps Helena truly believed the embryos weren’t viable, but maybe Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) stole them and paid Claudette (Bree Williamson) to be the surrogate. We’d have to suspend our disbelief with embryo SORAS here since Lulu’s eggs were stolen under two years ago, but this is a soap, so why the heck not?
Nicole Never Saw THAT Coming
The Bold and the Beautiful also adds an ick factor to Nicole’s (Reign Edwards) life. She gave up so much for Rick (Jacob Young) and Maya (Karla Mosley) to have Lizzie, and she only gave birth a few short months ago.
To ask her to have another baby so soon after getting her own life back seems selfish beyond belief, but so does Zende (Rome Flynn) not supporting Nicole’s decision. Nicole may have seemed pressured, but ultimately it is her decision to have another baby for her sister.
So, it’s embryos galore causing drama all over this month, and so far three days into November, we are going to hand the Embryo Prize to DAYS, cause Nicole getting her baby might be the biggest payoff of all.
