Casting Call: New Roles On The Young And The Restless And The Bold And The Beautiful!

Summer is coming, and The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful fans will be seeing some fresh faces in the coming weeks!

According to Soap Opera Digest, Y&R is casting the role of Sofia, who is being described as a “beautiful, independent and ambitious” young woman in her early 20s. This is probably not a recast of the Sofia, who was played by Julia Pace Mitchell, aka Moses’ mother.

Y&R is also hoping to find an actor to play the part of Carlos, who is described as “strikingly handsome” and is in his early 30s.

It remains to be seen if Sofia and Carlos are going to interact, but both have reported starting dates of mid-June, which could put them on-screen sometime in mid to late July.

B&B is also has a new character coming. The half-hour sudser is looking to cast the short-term contract role of Clara, a young, British woman between the ages of 18 and 21. It’s been reported that Clara is innocent, but has a manipulative side!

Traditionally, summer has been a time when younger characters have been pushed to the frontburner in an effort for shows to lure in younger viewers. Though for years, younger characters have been in A-stories throughout the entire year!

Published reports have indicated that B&B will be looking at a new set of younger characters this summer.

Traditionally, B&B has wisely tied new characters to existing families. (Bill Spencer, played by Don Diamont, gained not one, but two long-lost sons he didn’t know about in Scott Clifton’s Liam and Darin Brooks’ Wyatt).

Linsey Godfrey is not only tied to the Spencer clan as well, as she is Karen’s (Joanna Johnson) daughter, but she was named Caroline after an original cast member!
