The GH and Y&R Connection: Six Degrees of Jason Morgan

When we watched Sage die today on “The Young and the Restless” and then saw Sharon decide to keep her little secret, our minds went straight to another two-arc identity “reveal” that kept “General Hospital” fans both angry and on the edge of their seats last year. As we thought about it more, we realized how much of a Y&R and GH connection exists between these two stories.

In the fall of 2014, Billy Miller (Y&R’s former Billy) made his GH debut as Jason Morgan, but nobody knew that’s who he was. For all intents and purposes he was an amnesiac who called himself Jake Doe.

Last May, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) learned that Jake Doe was actually Jason, the man she obsessed over for years–but could never have. She decided to keep this piece of information to herself, so she could also keep Jason for herself.

In the fall of 2015, Sage (Kelly Sullivan) gave birth to a premature baby boy. She was later told he died. We all knew that baby ended up with Sharon and Dylan. Just as May sweeps of 2016 begins, both Sage and Sharon (Sharon Case) learned that Baby Sully is really Baby Christian, but Sage died before anyone else knew. Sharon, like Elizabeth, is now choosing to keep that information to herself so she can keep Dylan for herself. Of course, Dylan is played by Steve Burton, the original Jason Morgan.

Y&R is looking at a second “identity reveal” arc in the Baby Christian story the same way GH gave us one for the Jason Morgan story. Hopefully, Y&R doesn’t drag this second arc out to November sweeps the way GH did, angering and boring fans to the point of outrage last year.

Those were just the storyline similarities. Delve a little deeper and find these other Y&R and GH tidbits that somehow all go back to Jason Morgan. First, Kelly Sullivan played Connie on GH, a character who nearly married Sonny, Jason’s best friend. Now, Jason Thompson plays Billy on Y&R, the character that won Billy Miller three Emmys.

Whether you look at Steve Burton or Billy Miller, two very popular actors on both Y&R and GH, so many little things all seem to tie back to Jason Morgan.
