As a soap viewer, you can tell when it’s summer because that’s when the teens get their own story. But how do you really feel about them?
There have been some incredible teen stories over the years. General Hospital’s Laura (Genie Francis) started out as a teen, after all! Today’s Port Charles teens are looking like a good crop, led by Josslyn (Eden McCoy), as they deal with angsty feelings and family issues.
The family issues are huge for those Ashby twins on The Young and the Restless as they deal with the aftermath of Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) death and their mother’s part in it.
There hasn’t been much teen action on The Bold and the Beautiful, but there was last year when texting and driving took center stage. The teens on Days of Our Lives have fastly aged out of that bracket and there’s no sign of any new ones on the horizon.
So, how do fans really feel about teen stories on their favorite shows? Soap Hub asked, and you made your thoughts on the subject very clear.
In The Summertime
After over 5,000 votes were tallied, 61% are okay with teen stories as long as they stick them in the summer when real teens are home and can enjoy them. There are certainly elements you appreciate, especially when the kids learn a good lesson.
Teen Time
For 23%, you love the teen stories. You love the energy that they bring and how they remind you of when you were that age and the silly things you did. And there’s something about watching first love that just really makes you happy.
Back To School
Still, there’s 14% who would prefer that teens get shipped off to boarding school and return when they can be interesting adults. They’re just too whiny for you and you’d rather that airtime goes to a grownup romance or adventure.
Other
That leaves 2% who didn’t want to commit and instead chose “other,” which could just mean this was too complicated, or at least that your feelings about it were. Or maybe you are a teen and didn’t feel like judging others.
