Sybil The Psychic Predicts: The 2018 Daytime Emmys!

Published by
Mary McBride

The Daytime Emmys will be held this Sunday, but I, Sybil the Psychic, will use my crystal ball to see who the winners will be.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES
Eileen Davidson (Ashley, Y&R)
Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, GH)
Marci Miller (Abigail, Days)
Maura West (Ava, GH)
Laura Wright (Carly, GH)

While all of these women had an outstanding year, the confrontation with Sonny and Carly was a tour-de-force for Maura West’s Ava. She burned down the house — figuratively and literally.

OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
Peter Bergman (Jack, Y&R)
Michael Easton (Finn, GH)
John McCook (Eric, B&B)
Billy Miller (Jason/Drew, GH)
James Reynolds (Abe, Days)

The crystal ball kept switching between Bergman and Reynolds, but in the end, when things came into focus, Bergman’s Jack dealing with his mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis put him over the edge.

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES
Marla Adams, (Dina, Y&R)
Camryn Grimes (Mariah, Y&R)
Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie, Days)
Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe, Y&R)
Mishael Morgan (Hilary, Y&R)
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy, B&B)

It’s hard denying that it’s Adams’ year, considering her poignant and heartbreaking portrayal of tough-as-nails Dina dealing with her Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
Wally Kurth (Ned, GH)
Chandler Massey (Will, Days)
Anthony Montgomery (Andre, GH)
Greg Rikaart (Kevin, Y&R)
Greg Vaughan (Eric, Days)

Vaughan did some heartbreakingly nuanced work this year, while Massey had the splashier back-from-the-dead story. But the crystal that Alzeheimer’s will work its Emmy ‘charm’ in this category too, this time with Montgomery coming out on top.

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES
Reign Edwards (Nicole, B&B)
Hayley Erin (Kiki, GH)
Cait Fairbanks (Tessa, Y&R)
Olivia Rose Keegan (Claire, Days)
Chloe Lanier (Nelle, GH)

Lanier just had the meatier story and rose to the occasion. While her character has little redeeming value, the actress has proven to be a force against that show’s heavy-hitters.

OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
Lucas Adams (Tripp, Days)
Rome Flynn (Zende, B&B)
Tristan Lake Leabu (Reed, Y&R)
Casey Moss (JJ, Days)
Hudson West (Jake, GH)

While West was certainly impressive and is someone to watch in the future, Moss killed it with his material as a suicidal JJ. He ripped your heart out and handed it back to you in pieces.
