On General Hospital (GH), both Jake and Danny just found out that the guy they thought was their dad is really their uncle. Musical parent chairs — but they are hardly the only case on soaps.
On Days of Our Lives (DOOL), after many years of being a total brat about it, Sami (Alison Sweeney) has finally accepted both Roman (Josh Taylor) and John (Drake Hogysten) as her parental figures, as John was the one who raised her while Marlena (Deidre Hall) was presumed dead — and John thought he was Roman.
On The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), Bridget only cried in the rain once, and then she had no trouble believing Eric (John McCook) was her dad, not Ridge (then Ronn Moss). The same went for Abby (Melissa Ordway) on The Young and the Restless (YR) with Brad (Don Diamont) and Victor (Eric Braeden).
See! Soaps do love their musical parent chairs. But has it become too much? Over 17,000 viewers had something to say about that!
Stop the Music, I Want To Get Off!
Enough is enough, shout 75% of you! Kids aren’t rewards you hand out for a job well-done!
They have feelings and, despite what soaps may want you to believe, they form attachments! On Y&R, Nick (Joshua Morrow) has been raising Christian for a while now. Is he just going to be expected to hand him over once Adam inevitably returns?
The same goes for Lizzie on B&B, the next time Nicole (Reign Edwards) feels maternal. And what about DAYS’ Tate? Theresa (Jen Lilley) is headed back to Salem, but her son hardly remembers her. Won’t somebody think of the children!
Blood Is Thicker Then Drama
What is wrong with you people, another 24% wonder. Don’t you want drama? Mixed up parentage brings on the waterworks. You, personally, can’t wait till Y&R’s Johnny learns who his biological mother is, or GH’s Charlotte turns on Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Nina (Michelle Stafford) for Lulu (Marcy Rylan). Turn that music way up!
