Soap vet Rena Sofer has wowed audiences of several soaps over the years. Now, in real-life, Sofer has something even better to celebrate!
That’s because the actress was born on December 2, 1968, which means she turned 50 years old on Sunday!
A native of Arcadia, Calif., Sofer and her family moved to the east coast when she was a youngster. Eventually, she and her family set up residence in both Pittsburgh and New Jersey, where her father was the rabbi.
In 1988, Sofer landed her first daytime serial gig — she played Joyce on Another World. Next, she got the part of Rocky on the ABC soap Loving, which she played until 1991.
Two years later, Sofer was cast as Lois Cerullo, a band manager who fell in love with Eddie Maine, AKA Ned Quartermaine Ashton (Wally Kurth) on General Hospital. For her work as Lois, Sofer won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1995.
Sofer wed her GH co-star, Kurth, in 1995. The couple shares a daughter, Rosabel Rosalind Kurth, born in 1995.
After their divorce, Sofer became involved with TV producer/director Sanford Bookstaver in 2003. Two years later, Sofer gave birth to the couple’s daughter, Avalon Leone.
After Sofer exited GH, she tried her hand in primetime and worked continuously. She landed regular or strongly recurring roles on Melrose Place, Just Shoot Me!, 24, Heroes, NCIS, and more!
In 2013, Sofer returned to soaps as B&B’s Quinn, the overprotective mother of Wyatt (Darin Brooks). Quinn’s most outlandish act was to push Ivy (Ashleigh Brewer) into the Seine so Liam (Scott Clifton) would race to her aid and put his engagement to Hope (Annika Noelle) on hold!
Now, Quinn’s dynamic with Pam (Ally Mills) has started simmering again. Pam thinks Quinn is all wrong for her brother-in-law Eric (John McCook), and she’s enlisted the aid of Eric’s ex, Donna (Jennifer Gareis) in her efforts to break them up!
Soap Hub joins Sofer’s family, friends, and fans in wishing the talented actress a very happy birthday! You can too by clicking the Twitter link below.
